Hey Hunters!
Today it's time for another big unlock! A new monster is added to your pledge :)
Let's welcome Zekath, the solitary creature from the Splintered lands!
Here is a brief extract note from the Tome of Creatures by maester Janech:
"... we know nothing about the origins and evolution of this creature. It has capacities like no other monsters in Thyrea. It can alter the color of its body as well as the emotions ofnearby creatures; it has extraordinary communication skills and I suspect its intelligence is way more avanced than whatwe think. The more we study it, the more its species seems notto belong to this lands."
Since the votes were so close (41% vs 38%), we decided to make something special for this monster! The violet palette, which is your 1st choice, will be the main form (highest level). However we are adding a blue palette version of Zekath as well with a different deck, behaviour and elemental weakness/resistance! :)

The Nightmare of the Trespears + Zekath Sighted!

Daily Unlocks
Legends tell the rocky desert of Arras was formed due to an ancient curse directlysourced from the Trespears, the highest mountains in the region. According to the story, the ancestors betrayed the custodian spirit of Arras by stealing asacred herbwhich grew on top of the Trespears. It is told that the earth quaked and themountains rose up to cover the light in the sky, leaving the whole land in darkness. The spirit reincarnated into a monster to seek revenge on humans. Its name was 'Dygorax', which in the ancient language means 'theunforgiving'.
What is known for sure, is that a long period of drought made the land of Arras infertile, completely changing its environment and leading many creatures to migration or even extinction. While many do not believe in the storyof thecurse, no one doubts the existance of that'unforgiving' creature.
Today we add another Nightmare deck to the game! It's Dygorax, the largest monster in the Horn element category!
Dygorax falls into the class of "aggro" monsters: its abilities focus on the player with the aggro token and it poses a great challenge through attrition damage right from the start of the game!
It is mainly built around the concept of aggro: several behaviour cards in its deck trigger when the aggro token passes to another player or when multiple action cards with the aggro symbol are played during the turn. This makes the tactical decisons on your cards sequence really crucial.
But the feature we want to highlight here is the possibility offered by this scenario to choose the terrains on the board! Some special scenarios in the Campaign mode give the players the opportunity to select the environment of the fight. Based on equipments or specific achievements unlocked from previous quests, the players will be given a certain amount of points to be spent in order to choose terrains and plants to put on the board in the desired configuration.
Zekath Sighted!
Explorers have spotted a very rare species in the so called 'Splintered lands' in the north of Thyrea.
Its name is Zekath! Reading from the Tome of Creatures, this monster is able to change the color of its skin thanks to an interaction with the electricity in the atmosphere. Several patrols gave us different descriptions of this creature...
Tell us in the comments here below, which is the color you prefer? :)
All votes will be collected within the next 24h!

Beyond Watergrave! + NEW ADD-ON revealed
– Sun, Jan 24, 2021 at 11:42:32 PM
Hey Hunters!
Today we unlock a new Nightmare deck for another monster, which means we are adding a newscenario to the Campaign mode as well as a new one-shot option for the Expedition mode!
The Underwater Demon
Khaliroe is the captain of the Aircleave, one of the largest vessels in Alborea.
"So, you are heading toWatergrave, onthe Isle. That makes me wonder what kind of beauty you could find...miracoulus herbs, exotic plants, and maybe relics from ancestors' ruins, if you are lucky enough. Everyone told you about this lush paradise and its fascinating creatures. But, honestly, you already know the truth, isn't it?"
Her voice became gloomy as if she was recalling grim memories.
"I have been there, hunters. That place is weird and completely misunderstood. Unknown spirits preserve it and nature itself keeps something precious hidden under the waters, within the core of the island. It's the only place I really fear in Thyrea."
She paused for a moment, while the wind whistled and crashed onto the bow of the vessel. The outline of the island emerged on the horizon.
"On those wildlands, monsters are wardens and they act like if your life and existence was stealing somethingfrom them. I know the creature you are hunting. It's the one that scaries me the most. Many of us simply call it 'the sea serpent' or even 'the underwater demon', 'Orouxen' in the ancient language of Thyrea."
Khaliroe got closer to us and looked us straight in the eye.
"Its anger against us is unimaginable... and I amnot sure if I want to know why."
Khaliroe's words echoedin my headwhile we entered Watergrave, the large cavern complex beyond the great waterfall. Shewas right, it was the true shadow of a demon.
The Nightmare version of a monster exalts and powers up its abilities while keeping its personality and style. Orouxen is what we call a "sequence-control" monster and it has very interesting features that we want to highlight.
First of all, the environment is always very important in order to understand the kind of strategy required by the scenario. Here we have a plateau, from which we can jump onto the monster as well as 3 rocks that we can use to avoid attrition damage. However the characteristic presence of water terrain is definitely something to be aware of: while you are in a sector with one or more Water terrains, your sequence limit is reduced by 1 for each of them.
We will have to deal with that, also considering that Orouxen has behaviour cards that trigger when a player enters in a sector with a water terrain!
Orouxen forces you to start your sequence with a Manoeuvre card and it restricts your actions even more as it adds Debility cards - a special kind of Wound card - to your deck as the game progresses. It will be tough to decide when to attack and when to defend from attrition damage.
Fortunately, the objective card can really help us! If we manage to collect a set of Manoeuvre cards in hand, we can complete the objective and gain the possibility to ignore the effect from water terrain!
This only covers a small portion of the entire puzzle, but we hope it can give the feeling of how differently each monster can pose the challenge for the players.
New Add-on: Sleeves Bundle!
Many of you asked about the option to have sleeves for all cards in the game. So, we decided to offer a discounted bundle that covers all standard (63,5x88mm), squared (60x60mm), mini (41x63mm) and large size cards (70x120mm) that are included in Primal: The Awakening!
The exact number of cards could slightly change as we get to the production phase, but with this bundle we will cover any eventual extra which will be added from now on so you are sure you have all the content covered even if the numbers increase!
We have plans for other surprises and we are evaluating more content also based on the feedback we are receiving from you. Thanks for all the suggestions and for the amazing support!
Stay tuned! :)

New Mastery Unlocked + Gameplay Details

Daily Unlocks
Hey Hunters!
A new Mastery card for each class in the game has been unlocked for today's Daily Stretch!
Your Mastery card defines an important part of the strategy of your character during the game. A Mastery gives you a personal objective to achieve during combat. This can be anything from playing a certain sequence of cards, performing specific combos or fulfilling special requirements. If you achieve your personal objective, you unlock a powerful ability for the rest of the combat by flipping the Mastery card on its "Focused" side.
Since you can equip only 1 Mastery card during combat, the choice of which card to select is crucial. Indeed, as your character gains experience during the campaign, you will have access to many different Mastery cards to choose from which allow you to customize your hunter and your playstyle at a deep level.
Let's see the unlocked cards into more details, while making examples of good synergies with action cards and equipment for the hunters in the core game.
Thoreg, the Hammer
Thoreg can be easily built as a great "control" character having its giant hammer whirling down upon the monster to stun it, confuse it and to remove its Struggle tokens. Relentless Strike is an excellent card around which a control strategy can be built with a focus on Manoeuvre cards.
One of the peculiar traits of the Hammer class is the ability to stun. This effect not only allows you to prevent a Behaviour card from triggering for the rest of the turn (which is great!), but it also creates an opportunity to inflict damage as well. Indeed, when you stun a monster you may immediately choose an ally to deal their weapon damage for each Attack card they have in their hand at that moment of the game (free damage party!). If accurately planned, that can be a devastating combo!
Here below are 3 different weapons that could be a good start in order to build a deck around Manoeuvre cards and control effects.
Mirah, the Great Bow
One remarkable feature of the Great Bow is the possibility to shoot multiple attacks at a low stamina cost and building up a significant amount of damage through many repeated shots. Arrow Storm is a card that requires you to keep as many Attack cards as you can in your hand to prepare for multiple shoots in a turn.
How can you synergize with it? You could build up an engine that helps you accumulating attacks in your hand; but you could also choose equipments that maximize the combo when it is pulled off. Here are two examples of very interesting equipment combination for an Arrow Storm deck:
Dareon, the Great Sword
The Great Sword relies on an accurate sequence management, more than any other class. If you manage to swipe your giant blade in the air with the right tempo and the right moves, you can deal massive and solid damage. Sword Master is a card that rewards the player who builds up balanced combos between defenses and attacks.
Let's see some example of sequences that makes the Sword Master shine (and viceversa).
Once the Mastery has been focused, it allows to draw cards when attacking, which means we have great chance to pulling off longer sequences that can result in an epic devastating attack turn.
Ljonar, theSword & Shield
Finally, this class is built around the concept of supporting other characters in many ways during combat. The Tactician Mastery card is incredibly powerful and can definitely put your allies in the condition of performing at their best. On the other hand you have to attract the monster by taking Aggro if you want to focus the Mastery unlocking its power.
Based on the specific build you construct for Ljonar you can get a very different feel about how you support your team. More importantly, you also have the chance to hybridize your character with a control or a damage focused style.
Let's have a look at 3 different Mastery cards to see how they compare to the unlocked one and how they can lead to different strategy with respect to Tactician, especially when they are matched with specific equipment cards:
We are just scratching the surface of character customization in the game, but we hope this can give a good idea of the amount of possibilities you can explore with the different classes (Heavy Gun and Dual Blades will be analyzed in detail in a specific update!).
Which character inspires you the most, based on the styles we have looked at? Are you more of a control player, or do you prefer dealing massive damages or save the life of your teammates? Tell us in the comments below! :)
